Export Documentary Collection

Overview

The Export Documentary Collection is a settlement mode where ABC, acting as the remitting bank of the customer, sends the draft and shipping documents to the importer's bank and then delegates the importer's bank to collect money from the importer. According to how the documents are delivered, the Export Documentary Collection is divided into documents against payment (D/P) and documents against acceptance (D/A).

Features

1. Simple and easy procedures relative to L/C.

2. Low bank fees to help customers cut costs and control expenses.

3. Less risks involved compared with sale on credit, for the importer cannot obtain documents and goods until making an acceptance or a payment.

Procedures

1. The customer completes the Documentary Collection Application Form and provides ABC with a complete set of shipping documents and an export contract.

2. ABC sends documents to the collecting bank for demand of payment.

3. When the payment is received, the customer goes through formalities for forex sale or crediting and international payment declaration.

Tips

1. If the importer dishonors or refuses to accept the draft, the customer may promptly authorize ABC to assist in arranging for goods.

2. Under D/A collection, the customer may, in fact, allow more time for the importer to pay. We suggest that our customers take into account the interest and other related costs when determining the price.
